Bedo Brew
Coffee Trailer
San Diego, California
The founders of Bedo Brew Coffee, Hajer and Ali, wanted to create an elevated coffee experience that had a nostalgic yet refined aesthetic. The luxury of time and freedom was essential to the spirit of this brand. They also wanted a nod to their Arabic background that would inspire the brand, but not dominate the brand experience.
We decided to combine retro mid-century modern touches while combining patterns inspired by traditional nomadic tattoos and the deep colors of the Bedouin tapestry and clothing.

Visual Concept: Mid-Century Modern Bedo Vibe
Nomadic life is very similar to the Bohemia lifestyle which takes on no permanent ties. Wanderers, adventurers, and vagabonds. The lifestyle associates with a deep sense of freedom to explore different experiences and to keep moving. Bohemianism is commonly associated with creatives, literary types and other artists.
Logo Concept:
The logo is a type-led logo using a mid-century modern-inspired sans-serif font called Journeyman. The font gives the brand the elevated feel while being paired with a more tactile and rough typewritter-inspired font called Typeka. The pairing of high and low gives the logo visual interest and stays true to the personality of the brand.
Bedo is Arabic for Nomad.
During the naming workshop, we realized that the Bedo and Bohemian lifestyle have many similarities that create a link between the sands of California and those of the Middle East.
Inspired by traditional Bedouin tribal tattoos. Symmetrical and geometric, these represent good fortune and an auspicious future.
